My dreams come true in the year 1999 at the eve of 1st National Conference on Thermo physical Properties (1st NCTP)at Gauhati University, Guwahati, in the form of formation of Thermo-physical Society of India(TPSI). It was the occasion of 1st National Conference on Thermo Physical Properties (1st NCTP) organized by Deptt. of Physics, University of Gauhati, Guwahati in the presence of galaxy of renowned researchers and scientists of the country, when I proposed that a core group should be formed for the promotion and integration of the research on thermo-physical properties in the country. The proposal was accepted and the core group was formed which later on took shape of society. The executive committee of the society was formed in the year 2000 and was registered at Gauhati on Aug. 11, 2000 with its laid dawn constitution.

The Thermo-physical society of India(TPSI) is a vibrant professional body with more than two hundred active minds. Several of our members are leaders in their respective areas by virtue of their outstanding caliber and contributions. Research on thermo-physical properties of different type of materials has attained global recognition and importance, and is an exciting endeavour for many and it provides invaluable opportunities to correlate science with industrial and societal benefits. Hence, Thermo-physical society of India (TPSI) can dream of becoming the most dynamic engine to bring out this transformation. Any dream would be realized through several ground level actions. One such action required is an effective communication among members of the society and of the society with the members of the community. I hope that TPSI website will provide an effective medium for multi-way communication. The website will offer extensive and useful information on TPSI to members and to others interested.

We are happy to launch the website for Thermo-physical society of India (TPSI). The website has its own domain (www.tpsi.co.in) and is much more attractive and user friendly. Additional features such as objectives of TPSI, its executive committee, membership and other activities of the society are given in the website under different icons given on the home page. Any group activities etc. may be informed to the TPSI office and this can be updated on this website under “news and events”. Members can also send request to advertise Research positions, organization of conference or any other program of interest to TPSI office for uploading on this website. We hope that members will make full use of this website and increase their interaction and collaboration with the fellow Scientists, which is one of the objectives of TPSI.
